A man who left the protection of a Langley, B-C church after two years in sanctuary wept and thanked supporters and the Liberal government yesterday for his new freedom. Jose Figueroa was granted an exemption to remain in Canada on humanitarian and compassionate grounds. He stepped out of the church and told the congregation the new government made the right decision. (Figueroa has asked for the former Conservative government to grant him relief repeatedly over the past five years and a Federal Court judge agreed in July 2014, but no action was ever taken.)
