Ontario was the only province reporting a growth in jobs in December, adding 35-thousand net new jobs and lowering the unemployment rate from 6.9 to 6.7 per cent. Economic Development and Employment Minister Brad Duguid says the lower dollar is helping Ontario manufacturers, but the government isn't relying on a falling loonie to create jobs. (Financial accountability officer Stephen LeClair says one reason unemployment is down in Ontario is because some people are so discouraged they've given up looking for work.)
