A PEI company has developed a new online booking tool meant to reduce wait times at the doctor's office. The app -- called Skip the Waiting Room -- allows patients to book their own appointments, but it also sends a text message or phone call to let them know when they should come in. PEI software developer Mark Richardson says the system helps avoid the long waits that happen when appointments get backed up. (Richardson's online tool is now being tested through a one-year pilot project at a clinic in Charlottetown.)
