The City of Vancouver is going mobile in its effort to end homelessness. The city is looking for a company to design and build a series of modular and transportable housing units. Councillor Kerry Jang says the city has so far received proposals ranging from refurbished old shipping containers to purpose-built rooms that lock together like Lego bricks. (Jang says the city hopes to have between 30 and 40 units up and running by the end of the year and they are not meant to replace permanent housing.)
