The tiny community of Nakusp, B-C is feeling squeezed by an issue that divides residents between protecting the area's rare toad population and saving forestry jobs. Kootenay West New Democrat Katrine (kah-TREE'-nah) Conroy says every summer tourists come to Nakusp to safely transport migrating toads across the highway, but now many community members feel logging threatens the tiny amphibians. (B-C Forests Minister Steve Thomson says the area is open to logging but he's confident the toads are being protected.)
