The trial for a man accused of killing a couple in 2010 has begun. Travis Vader is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann of St. Albert, Alberta. Reporter Chris Purdy is in court in Edmonton and explains some of what the Crown said in the opening statement. (The Crown also told court Vader was a crystal meth user, desperate for money, when he killed the couple who were in their late 70s.)
