Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Danielle Larivee has fired the majority of councillors for the County of Thorhild, northeast of Edmonton. Larivee says the province had been working with the county for months to fix issues such as the council county hiring unqualified staff. She says the last straw came over the hiring of the county's chief administrative officer. (The county will now be run by an administrator until new councillors can be elected some time in the next three months.)
