The latest jobs numbers out of Statistics Canada don't paint a pretty picture for Alberta. Province-wide, the unemployment rate was at 7.9 per cent in February. Todd Hirsch is chief economist at ATB financial. (In Windsor, Ontario -- a city that has long suffered because of the downturn in the automotive sector -- the Statscan data shows an unemployment rate of 7.7 per cent, lower than Calgary's 8.4 per cent.)
