The federal budget comes down tomorrow, and the political messaging from the governing Liberals is already clear. They say Justin Trudeau's first budget will aim to reduce inequality, while laying the groundwork for long-term economic growth. But opposition critics, including Conservative Gerard Deltell, say the government's fiscal plan is short-sighted. (Federal revenues have declined since the fall, largely from the oil-price shock. But the Liberals have said they intend to go ahead with billions in economy-boosting measures, such as infrastructure spending and an enhanced child-benefit plan.)
