The Chief Justice of the B-C Supreme Court has refused a provincial government request for an injunction that would have ousted campers from a tent city in downtown Victoria. The ruling found the government didn't prove it will suffer irreparable harm if the interim injunction was not granted. Technology Minister Amrik Virk, whose ministry is responsible for the courthouse grounds, says he respects the ruling but the matter will now go to a full hearing (A few homeless people set up tents on the courthouse lawn in downtown Victoria last spring and, since then, the protest has grown to more than 100 tents, tarps and shacks.)
