The Canada Revenue Agency says it'll hire dozens of new auditors to fight tax evasion and tax avoidance. Francois-Philippe Champagne, the parliamentary secretary to the minister of finance, told a news conference this morning the government expects to recoup large sums of unpaid taxes. (Tax auditors will be looking at all foreign electronic fund transfers over 10-thousand dollars, starting with the Isle of Man. The agency also says it will open a special program to stop organizations that create and promote tax schemes for the wealthy.)
