A newly released study says Atlantic Canada's economy is bolstered by 1.14-billion dollars in direct spending from the region's indigenous community. Federal Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs Carolyn Bennett says the report shows government spending on native communities is an investment with economic benefits. (The study says the indigenous economy creates more than 16-thousand full-time equivalent employment positions and contributes 184.5-million dollars in overall tax revenues.)
