Canada has formally embraced the U-N's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. At the United Nations today, Indigenous Affairs Minister Carolyn Bennett told the gathering that once you know the truth -- you cannot un-know the truth. (The declaration, which is not legally binding, spells out the rights of indigenous peoples around the world, including on issues such as culture and traditions, identity, health, education and language, among others.)
