Federal Government House Leader Dominic Leblanc says it's too early to speculate about whether the current session of Parliament could be extended to ensure passage of the Liberal medically assisted dying legislation. Leblanc says he's still hopeful the Senate will approve Bill C-14 before the summer break. (The House of Commons is currently scheduled to rise for the summer on June 23rd. If the bill becomes law without being amended, Canada's foremost constitutional authority predicts it will be struck down by the courts as unconstitutional.)
