A former RCMP constable broke down at the murder trial for parents of a teen who died of starvation and untreated diabetes. Emil Radita (rah-DEE'-tah) and his wife Rodica (ruh-DEE'-kuh) Radita are charged with first-degree murder in the death of 15-year-old Alexandru, who weighed less than 37 pounds when he died in Calgary in 2013. Charlene Beck was a Mountie in 2003 when she was called to a B-C hospital to investigate a report of possible abuse. She told reporters she is still bothered by memories of his poor condition when she saw him. (Beck says she saw him the following year when he'd been in foster care and couldn't believe how healthy he had become.)
