Halifax-based Minas Energy says it plans to test a floating turbine in the Bay of Fundy in late 2017. The company will partner with Tocardo International B-V, a firm based in the Netherlands. Hans Van Breugel (Broo'-gel), of Tocardo, says his company plans a cautious approach to research in the Minas Basin. (The Tocardo technology consists of four 250 kilowatt bi-directional open rotor turbine generators which are attached to a floating platform.)
