Statistics Canada says the annual inflation rate held steady last month as consumer prices once again climbed 1.5 per cent. T-D Economics senior economist Leslie Preston says there are interesting inflationary changes going on underneath the headline number. (The June annual core inflation rate, which excludes some volatile items such as gas prices and is watched closely by the Bank of Canada, also held steady at 2.1 per cent compared to the previous month.)
