Preview Clip

The Opposition Wildrose Party is calling on the Alberta NDP to clarify how much it would cost to provide taxpayer-funded rebates to political candidates and parties. The NDP proposal would rebate political candidates and parties half of their expenses if they win at least 10 per cent of the vote. Jessica Littlewood is the NDP MLA who chairs the legislatures ethics and accountability committee. She says the plan is similar to what exists at the federal level and in some other provinces., including Saskatchewan. (The Wildrose estimates it would have cost more than seven million dollars had the plan been in place during the last election.)
