A reporter in Newfoundland and Labrador says a commentary she wrote about the harassment female journalists face earned her some "hate mail," but even more online support. Tara Bradbury wrote an article in The St. John's Telegram last week about FemFest, a local feminist convention, that was met with anti-feminist backlash, personal attacks and questions about "workshops on sandwich-making." Bradbury says she wrote an editorial in response to the flare-up because she was fed up with harassment and casual sexism being an "occupational hazard" for female reporters. (She says the retaliation to certain articles can border on threatening, like when a man showed up at her office demanding she write an article about "women liars.")
