The director of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation says granting a residential school cemetery in Regina municipal heritage status is "exactly what needs to be happening." Ry Moran says the designation means one city has stepped up and honoured the children who are buried in that cemetery. (Moran says preliminary estimates suggest there could be around 400 burial sites across the country directly associated with a residential schools, or where residential school children are likely buried.)
