The president of the British Columbia Federation of Labour says today's Supreme Court of Canada ruling that upholds the rights of B-C teachers to bargain class sizes in their contracts is a huge victory for labour rights in Canada. Irene Lanzinger says she was in the courtroom in Ottawa when the judges delivered the verbal ruling in favour of the B-C Teachers' Federation. (The ruling dates back to the government of former premier Gordon Campbell, who passed legislation stripping class sizes and other provisions from the teachers contract and denied the right to bargain those issues in the future.)
