Federal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna is announcing a plan to phase out the use of coal-fired electricity by 2030. The government is aiming to boost the percentage of electricity that comes from sustainable resources from the current 80 per cent to 90 per cent. (This is one of several steps Ottawa is taking in advance of next month's first-ministers meeting.)
