Some two-dozen people rallied outside the Manitoba legislature today to call for human rights protection for overweight people. The rally was in support of a bill to amend the province's human rights code to ban discrimination based on physical size and weight. Greg Nesbitt, a government backbencher who spoke at the rally, was non-committal. (The bill comes from the opposition benches and Liberal member Jon Gerrard. Gerrard says some overweight people face negative attitudes in the health care system and other areas.)
