Alberta is moving to ban the door-to-door sale of energy products to protect consumers from high-pressure and misleading sales tactics. Service Alberta Minister Stephanie McLean says ban is to go into effect January 1st and applies to unsolicited selling of furnaces, water heaters, windows, air conditioners and energy audits. It also will also apply to natural gas and electricity energy contracts. She says there have been too many complaints. (Earlier this month, the Ontario government introduced legislation that would put similar restrictions on door-to-door sales.)
