There are howls of outrage from some members of a special all-party committee on electoral reform after Democratic Institutions Minister Maryam Monsef says they failed to do their job. She told reporters in Ottawa that she appreciates the work they did, but the Trudeau government will now continue with the next phase of their outreach. (The 392-page committee report recommends the Trudeau government design a new proportional voting system and hold a national referendum to gauge how much Canadians would support it. But Monsef told the House of Commons today that the committee failed to do its job.)
