Nova Scotia's auditor general says the province approved a new 21-million dollar school for the Halifax area, despite evidence it wasn't needed. Michael Pickup says no one in government can appropriately explain why a new high school in Eastern Passage is being built, despite concerns about the impact it would have on existing schools. Progressive Conservative member of the legislature Tim Houston says the auditor revealed a system of "schools for votes." (Education Minister Karen Casey says the Eastern Passage community had an expectation the school would be built, and the Liberals decided to honour the approval granted by the previous NDP government.)
