A company that owns a dairy farm in the Fraser Valley and one of its directors have pleaded guilty to animal-abuse charges. The charges were laid against Chilliwack Cattle Sales earlier this year following a hidden-camera investigation by the Mercy for Animals in 2014. Krista Hiddema is vice-president of the Canadian chapter of the animal-welfare group and she says she felt sick when she first watched the video of employees punching and kicking cows. (The employees have also been charged and a trial is scheduled for the spring.)
