BC farmers have been battling another environmental challenge with extreme cold and snow coming on the heels of historic flooding. Gagan Khakh (GUH-gun KACK), a third-generation vegetable and berry farmer, says his family was grateful they could still harvest produce from a few fields in Chilliwack after their main property in Abbotsford was damaged in the floods. But he says that stopped too when temperatures dipped to new depths. (In a New Year's statement Premier John Horgan says 2021 was an "exceptionally challenging" year in BC, citing record-setting droughts, heat waves, floods and mudslides.)
