Property assessments in British Columbia are continuing to increase with small towns and rural areas leading the way with value increases above 40 per cent for last year. Bryan Murao (MUR'-oh), BC's deputy assessor, says single-family homes in Vancouver show increases of about 16 per cent, while the suburban areas outside of the city indicate double-digit increases. (Murao says property values in small towns like Hope, Lake Cowichan and Port Alberni and other rural areas across the province were up above 40 per cent.)
