BC voters gave the incumbent New Democrats an unprecedented second term. But they chopped the NDP majority to 39 seats from 50. The Liberals returned to the Opposition benches, but with double the seats, 33 from 14 at dissolution. Premier Glen Clark's message was to maintain government programs without radical spending cuts.
