The meat plant at the center of an extensive beef recall resumed shipping products on November 15th for the first time since an E. coli outbreak forced its closure in September. The union representing workers at the XL Foods plant in Brooks, Alberta, said the shipments included a full range of products, including ground beef and steaks. Doug O'Halloran of the United Food and Commercial Workers union said they hoped retailers and consumers wouldn't shy away from beef. (On December 8th, the troubled meat plant was allowed to resume shipments to the United States.)
