The Quebec National Assembly passed a bill June 20 calling for a sovereignty referendum by October of next year. It also established a committee to look at constitutional offers from the rest of Canada. The vote was 65-29. The PQ was joined by several members of the Equality party in opposition. Liberal M-N-A Russ Williams also opposed the bill.
