A new book about former Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor, titled "Our Man in Tehran,'' described Taylor as the de facto CIA station chief in Iran. But on January 23rd, Taylor said he never directly provided information to the CIA during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis. Taylor said the information he provided went to Canadian officials in Ottawa and was eventually passed to US officials. (Taylor became a national hero for helping to hide and smuggle six US diplomats out of Iran after their embassy was overrun by Iranian revolutionaries.)
