Canadian Major-General Lewis MacKenzie relinquished command of UN peacekeepers in Sarajevo on August 1st. His Canadian battalion was replaced by troops from France, Egypt and Ukraine. Before leaving the besieged city, General MacKenzie wished the new UN force well. MacKenzie said he left feeling disappointed "the situation is worse than when" the Canadian peacekeepers arrived.)
