An Italian doctor who developed what he claimed was a cancer-fighting cocktail was greeted with cheers when he arrived in Toronto. Eighty-five-year-old Dr. Luigi DiBella treated people with a combination of hormones and vitamins. Four Canadian doctors studied Bella's work and concluded there was no scientific basis that the controversial treatment worked. But that didn't deter people like 39-year-old Charlene Taccogna (tak-OHN'-nya) of Brampton, Ontario, She had a mastectomy, but declined traditional treatments such as chemotherapy in favor of DiBella's therapy.
