A northern Alberta doctor charged with first-degree murder in the disappearance of a colleague was found guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter. An Edmonton jury deliberated for 33 hours before delivering the verdict on Oct. 6. Dr. Abraham Cooper had been charged in the disappearance of Dr. Doug Snider from Fairview in 1999, who prosecutors alleged was killed because Cooper believed local doctors were conspiring to ruin his medical practice. Snider's son, Darren, read a prepared statement after the verdict.
