Alberta Premier Ralph Klein addressed a rally supporting a dozen Alberta farmers who chose jail rather than pay fines for illegally exporting grain in a protest over the Canadian Wheat Board. The group had until October 31st to pay-up after a 1996 conviction for illegally transporting grain across the border. Klein told the rally in Lethbridge he doesn't encourage breaking the law, but he does agree the Canadian Wheat Board monopoly is unfair.
