On October 31st, allegations of a video showing Toronto mayor Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine and uttering racist and homophobic slurs came to a head with a stunning police revelation that they had found what appeared to be the alleged video. Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair said forensic investigators were able to recover a deleted video file, seized as part of a broader police investigation. (The announcement came just hours after the release of a court document detailing allegations that Ford was connected to accused drug dealers and users, allegedly through his friend, Alexander Lisi, who was charged with extortion over alleged efforts to retrieve the video.)
