Former Saskatchewan premier Grant Devine, who led the provincial Conservatives to two election victories before being swept from power in 1991, announced his resignation as party leader. Devine said he would return to the University of Saskatchewan and continue running his consulting firm in Regina. (Devine's resignation came about a month after Alberta Premier Don Getty announced he would be giving up his job as leader of the Alberta Conservative party.)
