Military officials admitted on July 22 that some controversial memos put in the medical files of peacekeepers stationed in Bosnia were removed. Colonel Walter Natynczyk (naht'-in-chuk) said the memos were put in the files of some soldiers who might have been exposed to hazardous substances. He said it appears those documents were taken out because they weren't considered to be based on scientific fact. But Natynczyk couldn't say who ordered the files to be pulled, or when they were removed.
