In mid-September the Surete du Quebec and the army raided an island on the Kahnawake Reserve looking for weapons. The incident turned ugly when more than 70 Mohawks tried to stop them. The army responded to the scuffles and the rock throwing with tear gas. About half a dozen soldiers were hit by rocks or beaten while 75 Mohawks were treated for tear gas inhalation. The army says it found about 50 weapons during its search. This is sound of the confrontation.
