Eight years after they were shunned by the City of Toronto, the Barenaked Ladies were handed the key to the city on Sept. 21. In 1992 then-Mayor June Rowlands banned the group from playing outside city hall because she said the name Barenaked Ladies "objectified women." Looking back on it, band member Steve Page said the controversy really helped boost the group's profile.
