The IOC decided to award Canadian shot-putter Dylan Armstrong the bronze medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a result of a lifetime ban given to a Belarusian shot putter (Andrei Mikhnevich). Armstrong originally finished fourth in the shot-put at Beijing, missing the podium by less than a centimetre. He said he hoped to receive the medal in his hometown of Kamloops, BC.
