Newfoundland Premier Brian Tobin said a number of native leaders whose communities had been rocked by alcoholism were themselves addicted to drink. He said it was a problem that had to be admitted. A recent provincial survey by the liquor board showed Atsanik Lodge in Nain was the fourth largest buyer of alcohol in the province.
